spunge wrote:Java is not for Flash games. Java is for cross platform compatibility. The main reason why Java is not used in gaming is because it is an interpreted language, meaning the "code" is not natively x86 assembly but rather bytecode which is passed from a virtual machine. This causes an obvious loss in speed because of interpretations. However the advantage gained while sacrificing speed is that the Java developers only have to port the VM to other operating systems. All other Java applications will still work.
As processors get more and more powerful, these hinderances will become trivial and you may see more and more people using Java.
Anyways, http://bytonic.de/html/screenshots.html
Also, given my understanding on LSS, you cannot script a game such as WT in LSS. This is because of the limited API set. However, I'm not positive if you are limited to the API given in the the list.
Anyways all this hype about C/C++ is a misconception made by people who cannot program. Other languages have the capability to produce games. This includes the various flavors of ASM, Delphi, VB (lol), C#, D and etc. You could argue that some are simply inefficient, but that's besides the point. Capability != efficiency.
