the computer gives out a LONG SQUEAKY beep
press the power button

BOOT 4:
before starting the machine, i unplugged the computer fomr the power socket and plugged it back a while later
power on
i tell GRUB to boot windows vista

However, after a while, the screen freezes

ACPI shutdown

BOOT 5:

boot Ubuntu 9.10, Linux 2.6.31-(i forgot the number), i upgraded form jaunty recently
the thing is stuck when loading the initrd or the vmlinux kernel

AFter that, i need to go to school

After school, boot 1
No video

boot 2
windows managed to start
but the whole computer just restarts suddenly after 3 mins of uptime
i am browsing files and BOOMZ!, all gone and what greets me is the HP screen

so the computer restarted and i let it boot windows
history repeats itself

I read: "processor is burned out" on your message. Try just changing it. Also, check twice your CPU FAN, if it is blowing fair enough and thermal paste. That should do it.

yes... it needs to be hot just once to screw things up forever.

It is kind of, on a possible first heat peak, the internals were damaged and now on a temperature below the manufacturer's line is enough to make it crash.

Anyway, it i a guess. The best thing you could do is exchange part by part until you eliminate only what is making it die. Well, there's a chance a defective motherboard could toast a brand-new processor, so take care...
