'Apply Wide Display Options' That sounds convenient, i think.
Maybe it has something to do with like more buttons to press.XD

No. It's to support higher resolutions for users with a bigger monitor. For example, I have a 24" monitor which is 16:10 and the native resolution is 1920 x 1200. And therefore, I prefer a wider resolution when playing games.

You can only change to a higher resolution if your monitor supports it. And changing to a higher resolution supposedly results in a smoother overall picture display. :)

As far as I am aware...

The further you up the Resolution 640x400 > 800x600 > 1024x768 > 1280x1024, the more stress it puts on your Graphics Card. If your graphics card can handle it, however, it looks nicer and flows better.

What you are getting is Screen Lag, and thats probably a result of a low-quality Graphics Card, or RAM, etc.

To lessen effects of Screen Lag, set Resolution as Low as possible and set Quality to lowest also. This should ease the Screen Lag a bit at least.

minorutono is correct. Although, you could try set it at a higher resolution and see if it somehow coincidentally fixes your issue. UNLESS, that happens with all games you play, because that IS screen lag and it's because you'll need a better and more decent graphics card. Graphics cards aren't that expensive at the moment, you could try an 8800GT. They should be under $150 or so. And it CAN run Crysis on High, when I used to have it, I got around 18FPS, if I remember correctly.

And when I changed from a 17" and 19" (Dual display) monitor to a 24", I noticed a huge and significant difference. Even though CRT's are an obvious win with "input lag" compared to LCD's. I have a TN panel, at the moment. I was planning to get the Dell 2408WFP when it was $100 and a 20% coupon which made the price come down to $580. Although, it's a S-PVA panel and I'd hate to experience 30 ~ 60ms input lag whilst gaming. And as of now, the price somehow inflated to $999 which definitely places me off it. Therefore, I went with a TN which has lower input lag and better response times, but, the only bad thing about it, is the viewing angles and color reproduction. You'll definitely notice the difference between a 6-bit and 8-bit panel monitor and might not ever come back to a 6-bit (TN).
