Changing value does not work

Postby martix » Mon May 26, 2008 11:23 pm

I'm trying to change some points in a game, but it does not seem to work.
I find the address and it shows the exact same number of points the game shows.
I can change it in MHS and it stays changed until I click something in the game. Then it becomes as if I didn't change anything at all.
Say I got 5 points, make it 50, go ingame and click something that costs 3 points and I am left with 2, not 47...
And this is the only address that changes according to the value displayed ingame.
Locking does not work either!
When I lock it and try searching with values other than the locked one, nothing comes up.

Any tips?
Edit:
Even trainers don't work...
FYI the game is Galactic Civilizations 2: Dread Lords v1.5 (from the Gold Edition).

The value is held on the server. The value you changed is a copy in your client used for display.

There is no way to change server-sided values.

Its single player...
Its on the campaign setup screen where I choose my race's abilities, I want to have a bit more points to spend.
And when I change it, it still displays the old value ingame.

What do you mean? I find out the address that changes along with the value ingame, but changing it from MHS has no effect ingame.
Thats several times over(restarting campaign, game, whatever).

The values you are trying to find are probably encrypted.
In the very least, it is guaranteed they are not the type you expect them to be or they are not in the range you are searching.

Search from 0 to 7FFFE000.

Try various data types.
