Why is your box sitting between two toasters?

But seriously folks.
What is a AMD Radeon HD 6870? I am having trouble finding clear comparisons between it and other cards.
It is cheap as hell but apparently performs similarly to the AMD Radeon HD 5850.
It takes two slots and the spec sheet I found says it uses CrossFireX. But it doesn’t say whether that is done internally inside the casing or if you actually have to have another card to do that.
That would be 4 slots. No motherboard has enough room for that and sound cards and modems and everything else you need (I keep one slot open for putting peanut butter in it, as I am sure most of you do).

I am sure you will enjoy gaming on it.
Just give it room to breathe; move the toasters farther apart.

the 6870 is between the 5850 and the 5870, it can use crossfirex if you add another card.
I choose not to use a wifi card, I used an usb stick for wifi ( I plugged it into an usb 3.0 slot )

my mobo has enough room to add another graphics card btw, but I don't think my psu can handle it ( it's a 700W psu from OCZ)

haha toasters , well they are my speakers.

So how much was it all?

Also I would recommand BOSE® Computer MusicMonitor speakers.
Just two little guys that can create large volumes and high dynamic ranges. They are small so they take up little space, and since they are BOSE® they have the same or better sound quality as much larger speakers.

Also they don’t look like toasters.

hmm including the screen and mouse and everything about €1400 which is about $1863. I live in the netherlands btw, so that's why it's so absurd high.

That’s no absurdly high. My PC is more than double that. I would say you got a good deal overall.
Have you tried anything on it? Like Crysis.

didn't download crysis to test, I might be a little bit too lazy or something or I just don't like the game.

currently looking for a good cpu cooler. under 50 euros. ( about 60-65 dollars)

I've updated my rig,

I've replaced my old psu ( 700W) by a new Corsair HX850 ( 850W), and I've added a second amd radeon 6870 :)

I have 2 Radeon HD 5870’s crossfired, and while that certainly is enough power to play any game in existence on max settings, it isn’t so useful when all of those games crash.
And I don’t mean just crash, I mean they bring down my computer.

I was able to stop the full bring-down of my computer in Battlefield 3 by disabling crossfired mode, but it still crashes to desktop with 100 reliance after 5 minutes, almost on the button.
I can usually finish one round of Monday Night Combat before fully crashing, even with crossfire disabled.
Even YouTube videos put me at risk of a reboot.

I have decided never to purchase from AMD again unless my next NVIDIA cards prove to be as fatally flawed.
