This image editor is the best IMO, it can do everything photoshop can do but in it's own way and the interface is much simpler (not to mention one of the filetype plugins allows opening and saving PSD files). But enough advertising, you can find out more about it here or here.
I made some wallpapers recently and thought they came out nice, so I thought I'd post them for anyone else to use (just click the image to download). If you do like them and want me to make a custom one, just let me know what character(s) you want in it and the background color or if you want one of the current ones modified.
First, this isn't a wallpaper but I thought it was cool. There's a plugin for Paint.NET that graphs equations; either Normal, Parametric, or Polar. I found a polar equation and it graphs as follows:
