Digital Painting

Postby WhiteHat » Mon Jan 11, 2010 10:31 am

So my uncle bought me this Wacom Intuos 3, so i downloaded MyPaint, and so here is my drawing:

Image

My favorite hero, Hanoman, from epic wayang (puppet) story Ramayana, in my own interpretation n style...

I found that digital painting is kind a cool for relaxing and stress-relieving.

It is better than mine.

Why don't you get a DeviantArt account?

After time you could match these guys:

http://endling.deviantart.com/

These are all “friends” of mine.
I know of one other person who draws as well as Endling but is not a friend of mine. You can check Endling’s list of favorites to find him.

I did not post these to divert attention from WhiteHat’s drawing. I posted them for 2 reasons:
#1: Because I really think WhiteHat can catch up to them.
#2: To give him some inspiration/motivation. I did not spend so much time on my own drawings trying to make them look perfect until I saw some other drawings on that site. I figured by seeing those, he would work harder on his next one and get massively improved results. That is what happened to me.

It wasn't my intention to divert anything either.

For a guy who doesn't draw much(do you?) WhiteHat's picture has very good and has a great style and feel to it. :)

Thank you L. Spiro, but sorry to say that i doubt that.

I mean, compared to the young lady drawing in MHS frontpage? Mine is next to nothing... ^^;

I don’t do draw much (digitally). Just obtained my graphic tablet a few weeks ago, so the picture is the only one i have made currently. But, i think i’m going to make one account soon. It should be exciting.

I don’t take it that way at all. It is absolutely fine.
On contrary, i’d like to say thank you very much for giving me those links.

I have no plan to be a professional in digital visual art, but absolutely will be glad if i could improve my skill to much higher level.

It is not entirely correct.. Before having a graphic tablet, i like to stroke lines on paper in my spare times. Drawing something abstract (which i find very relaxing) so my right hand is a bit trained to stroke lines.

It is just no particular studies of drawing have been taken.

I meant it is better than my cartooning.

From this Hanoman drawing, i actually in progress to port the image into 3D still image...
Here’s the WIP link: My Hanoman 3D, BlenderIndonesia Forum. It’s in Bahasa Indonesia, but i post some screenshots along...

Any useful comments and critics are welcome... ^^

I’m currently learning to ‘RIG’ the model to achive certain pose, like the one in my drawing, and how to texture the model. Leave the animation behind for now since it takes lots of time... Low Polygon Modeling for games is my current focus, however...

Unfortunately, my progress get disturbed by hacking Mass Effect 2...
