a lot of hacks does not work on x64
btw you need a x64/x86-x64 processor to run 64-bit OS
i recommend 32 bit
true, 64-bit have some extra functions, but x64 is different from x86
btw, memory hackin software only works on x86(32 bit)

edit:
i recommend x86-x64 linux
or 64 bit linux
i recommend linux
x64 can perform many other functions

MHS has some problems with W7 and 64-bit, but overall I'd say you should go with a 64-bit system as long as your hardware supports it. While there isn't 100% compatibility at this point, it is MUCH better than the Vista fiasco. Personally I haven't ran into any problems on my Vista 64 system and on the Windows 7 (64) betas I also didn't have any problems.

I wouldn't recommend Linux unless you know what you're doing or just feel like playing around with an operating system.

Conclusion: If your hardware supports it, get Windows 7 64-bit.

This link can be run on your computer to test for Windows 7 compatibility issues if you are worried about any.

You'll find that a vote is pointless as most people will vote x64 as they think it's just 'cooler'. The truth is, you'll have more heartache with x64 than you will with an x86 install. What would you be doing that would warrant a 64-bit OS? Would you need more than 4GB of memory to make use of for example?
