"According to the findings of the autopsy, Mays died of a pulmonary embolism. Evidence that Mays suffered from heart disease was also found. Vernard Adams, Hillsborough County Medical Examiner, explained at a press conference that Mays “had an enlarged heart, a thickening of the wall of the ventricle which takes blood to the heart... Mays had told a TV crew that he’d bumped his head during the airplane landing. However, according to the coroner, there was no evidence to suggest that Mays suffered any sort of head trauma, nor did he have any internal or external injuries as a result of the rocky landing.”
