Just make sure that it fits your other hardware correctly. If you are looking for a large performance boost, simply upgrading your motherboard won't give you too much of a difference. Also, if you are planning on getting a new processor in the future you will most likely have to get a new motherboard for that processor as well. With that said, look for a motherboard that has the same socket type as the processor you currently have, make sure it supports the RAM you have, has a slot for your graphics card (whether it be PCI Express or AGP), fits your case, etc.
