My first photoshop pic

Postby Jsrik » Sat Feb 21, 2009 9:32 am

So I was helping my friend make his sig using photoshop, and I ended up making this. I know it's not that good, as I don't use photoshop alot.

Did you split it into two pieces and use different filters on each one?

are you using layers?

if so, copy both layers by using ctrl + j. then go to filters-->blur-->radial blur-->blur method zoom-->quality best-->amount 100.
then press okay, and move both blurred layers behind the original ones( or just render the soldier out and remove that part from the blur layer.

Very nice work for being new to Photoshop. I agree with Speedwing/Whitehat on it being good to start off making signatures, however that may only be because that's where I got started. However, signatures really get you to explore Photoshop and learn what you can do with each filter, brush, layer style, etc and it is all on a small canvas which makes it easier!

Great work on it though! Keep it up!

I suggest making backgrounds first.

Random layers, filters, and gradients. This will let you get a feel for the filters and such. Then go to siggys.

a background is way too much work in the beginning, if you experiment with layers while making a signature, ( i mostly take renders and i use brushes)

and anywayz, a signature is mostly only 400x150 max. and about 350x120 minimum. a background is large :p.
