I feel like to do so because that’s what i see in most of FL8 sample songs...

To cut the samples themselves into their own smaller .wav file, pess f9 to open the Mixer. To the right side on the Mixer, you'll see a bunch of rectangles. On the left side of the rectangles, there will be small triangles, press on the triangle and select "Edison". Its an audio editor. Drag drop your file into Edison and cut large sections out of the wave form, instead of the piano roll. Then save your cut sample and reload THAT into FL. It won't come as a Piano Roll, but its faster and easier for large sections.

I think i have enough with FL8 familiarizing...

Been converting some MIDI songs, picking proper instruments, cutting
repetitive notes into more manageable pattern, and their kind..

The hardest part is to remix those .FLP-ed midi songs to some more
‘alive’ songs. I don’t think i have the talent for this. Progress been very
very slow..

Maybe i have to do some research for those appregio etc things...

Hey, WhiteHat.

I think its best to start adding stuff to a .midi FL-ed file in this order :

0) Setup. Open FL, Import Midi, put it into a basic instrument "FL Keys", or something.

1) Find the optimal tempo. You can change tempo easily, its next to the [ Play ] [ Stop ] [ Rec ] [ ###.## ]
The numbers are the Tempo. Keep changing it while playing your Midi in FL to get the right tempo.

2) Add a beat. Just pull up some basic kicks, hats, and snares/claps. If you want a basic beat, then put a kick every 4 counts, a hi hat every 2 counts, and a clap every 8. Thats pretty basic, but it sounds fine, and it'll get you started.

3) Now that you have a basic beat and tempo, change the midi instrument to something more exciting.. Try Sytrus on different instruments, or perhaps WASP on different ones. If you have Toxic Biohazard, put it on Keyboards then go through those.
- Note that you can play the same pattern on different instruments. Try blending sounds of two instruments together.

4) Background. I don't know how great this is, but i almost always have one background pattern on repeat. Its slow, ambient, quiet but always there. Helps to add depth to your song.

5) Own. From there, just mix things around.. I guess ^^ thats how I do it

Offtopic : I got my new title by donating some leftover money I had in my PayPal account. ^^. It wasn't much but I'll donate more soon..

Hi, Minorutono...

I already understand and done several times for step 0-3 (why did you start
with 0 anyway ?). However step 4-5 are something that i have had in mind
but found difficult to implement.

The great obstacle, i guess, is my aesthetic of music is pretty much ‘dull’...
Guess i have to listen more music from different types...

Anyway, thank you very much for your advice...

Hola, Whitehat.

I started at 0 because I had already finished number 4 before i thought of the 0th step. And I didn't feel like re-numbering it. But also because its just basic step-up.

Send me some of your work? I'd love to hear something, and I'll try to make suggestions accordingly.

Anyways, if you wanna hear a song thats pretty much all off a midi.. http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/217178 . My mix of a piano song in the Nintendo GBA game "Fire Emblem VII" (first one released in US). I basically just changed some instruments around.

Also, do you have the demo or the full version?

He said I needed more bass, but obviously he didn't realize that one of the three lead instruments (the last one, the one that comes out at 1:15) is bass. Its a 3xOSC Bass sound. It IS BASS! I HAVE BASS!

Oh well.

Thanks JB.

You can vote w/o an account too, btw (cough cough) you just can't write a review.

Something happened to my PC 2 days ago.

A message of “A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart” occured and it failed to start OS. I had to restart many times. And when i luckily made it, my PC accessed the HardDrive very very slowly...

I tried to reformat the booting partition. The problem has gone, but later on i remembered that the mp3 files i was gonna send to you were on the formatted partition. I was so nervous for having such problem... Guess i have to start it all over since, luckily, the midi files are stored in different partition.

But first thing first, i gotta resolve this HD slowing problem..

PS: I’d like to have your .FLP if you don’t mind. I’ll tell you via PM when my PC is ready. Thanks.

Eek, ouch..

Why'd that happen, I wonder.

And sure, PM me when you're ready.
