As per request, here is a very simple simple "guide" to just a few bits of the FL interface.

Image

Ask me if there is anything you wanna know.

Its a screenshot so its 1280x1024, zoom it in so you can see the quality if your desktop resolution is less or equal to 1280x1024

Also :
If anyone really wants to learn, and wants me to make a very short 'getting started' guide, then i'll make a vid.

I can’t find any way to record the notes i played through my PC keyboard
into my PIANO pattern. Is this possible ?

I personally don't have an external keyboard so i'm not sure.

Try this :
Options > Multilink to Controllers ?

If not i'll do some research for ya.

Uh... that’s not the actual problem.. I don’t even have any musical external devices for now..

Here is what i was trying to do:
- i started with file>new
- from the pattern window, i clicked on the "Piano" channel -> a piano-like interface showed
- i can use my mouse pointer to virtually press those tuts
- i can also use my PC keyboard to play some piano tones ("z" = do, "x" = re, etc)
- it was really fun, until i wanted to record what i played using this "piano-like" window so that the tones appear (recorded) in the piano-roll.

The problem is i was not able to find any ways to record the tone i played into the pattern...

Up until now, if i want to create some tones, i used the common “tone painter” in the piano-roll interface. Even this way is helpful to those who don’t have external keyboard, IMHO, it lost the ‘intuitive’ elements of playing music..

I hope i make my question clear now.. Please pardon my English, and thank you very much in advance..

Ok, heres how to do it.

Step 1 )
Open FL Studio.

Step 2 )
Select the instrument you wish to use by selecting the Green Dot to the Right of the Instrument name. (see fig.1) (Note, the Dot on left side tells FL to turn instrument on/off.)

Step 3 )
Press the Record Button > Everything (fig.2/3)

Step 4 )
Press the Play Button, and start tapping in your keyboard piano

Step 5 )
Press Record Button again, and the notes will be transfered into your Piano Roll

Hope I helped.

Btw, your English is perfectly fine, I just misunderstood.

It works !!...

Not as smooth as i expect, but it’s much better
than to ‘paint’ each notes into piano roll...

Thank you !

No problem.

I figure it'd work better with an external keyboard.

Keep questions coming, because everything I find out makes me smarter and more knowledgable on this too.

Update!

I've posted some songs on YouTube! Easy access, so tell me what you think.

Crystaline :

In other news : I made another song.. it's like space age-ish.. I don't know. If anyone wants to hear it I'll send it to you (post if you are interested). Its called "Open Void" and is around 6 minutes long, and i'm still working out the tweaks in it, so any advice from listeners would make me very grateful.

My progress with FL8 is extremely slow...

I decided to start with importing MIDI files and convert them manually
to FL8 format . To cut the long piano roll of one imported midi channel
into more manageable pattern is quite a tedious task... The next step,
i guess, is to pick a song (a simple one) and make its copy using FL8..

I’m completely new in this. Guess i have to be able to stand before can
run.. The studying process is a real fun though...

Anyway, i’d like to hear your new song. Would you pm me the link ?
Thanks in advance...

How are you importing? You just grab the Midi file and put into the channels list (where the names are ie : kick clap snare sytrus) and it'll load the song. From there, you change the instrument from Midi to whatever you want. Then use the copy tool to copy large chunks of the song that you want to use and paste them in another playlist.

I'll explain in more detail lol.

Yes, i’ve done that...

I’m trying to familiarize FL8 more by ‘cut’ some repetitive parts of the song,
try to put them in different patterns, and rearranged them to make a whole
song...

I feel like to do so because that’s what i see in most of FL8 sample songs...
