some news about my ip configuration

i got some kind of 1394 connection in my network connections, maybe this screws the ip release thing, i need help to delete this freaky connection

that's firewire.. you don't need to delete it.
Windows uses firewire as a network connection.

What's firewire? I thought it was some sort of cable used to connect iPoDs and Macs

hmm, i tried the ip release thing, and i logged in at my isp site. and there is my ip shown too.

so i guess i really need to call my isp for a new ip

yes, that is correct. Windows will see it as a network connection..
that is the nature of the 1394 driver.

mezzo, when i typ ipconfig/all at the DOS thing, i dont get my external ip, is this a part of my problem?

lol there is better news XD, at my ISP i can get an upgrade for the same price/month, but it has faster internet + a new ip :D:D:D.

well atm is it 160kb/s, then it willbe arround 350 kb/s, so the double speed.

JB Gzn if you wonna read more about this go to www.XS4ALL.nl, i got ADSL van kpn atm, it will be ADSL Only then.

that would be very very slow lol

16.000 kbit/s, with @home.nl , it's an all in 1 packet

but does it has McAffee with it?, and what about routers, XS4ALL has a great helpdesk :)

i have mcafee, it's not free , but we have it free.
and i we didn't need an helpdesk because everything inmediatly worked.

You most likely have a router between the external line and your internal LAN. So what you see in an ipconfig /all is your private internal ip.

Try to surf to this page, unless you use a http proxy it will tell you what your IP is.

ye, i always check it with www.portforward.com ( usefull site for setting up port forwarding).

well as you maybe readed it isnt neccesary anymore as i am getting a new ip in 3-4 weeks :)
